Dear Cycling Frog Community,

We are fighting to build a pathway for hemp-derived products to be legalized in the wake of the new Congressional hemp-prohibition that goes into effect in November 2026.

There are some industry players who are upset that we are working on legislation that would not re-legalize THCA and certain synthetic cannabinoids. Some have even claimed we worked with Senator McConnell to pass language that illegalizes much of our own business starting in November of 2026, an accusation that makes no sense. While we share the frustration and pain of seeing businesses we’ve all built with our own blood, sweat, and tears threatened by these changes, any claim that we encouraged or collaborated with anyone to make parts of the hemp industry illegal is simply untrue.

We are deeply invested and passionate about this industry. We’ve worked in hemp since 2014. We operate our own hemp farm in Central Oregon, processing facility in Seattle, and packaging facility in Portland - infrastructure we built over the past decade to support Cycling Frog and our sister company, Lazarus Naturals.

We had no knowledge of the unexpected restrictions Senator McConnell added to the Continuing Resolution and fought tooth and nail to have them removed. In the conversations we’ve had since with Oregon’s Senate delegation, it has become clear that synthetic cannabinoids and THCA products are non-starters for many in the Senate. Because of this, we are working within the political realities of today to drive legislation we think will have a path to success which unfortunately means compromising.

While we deeply regret, and are ourselves unhappy, that any compromise will likely result in segments of the hemp industry, including some of our own products, becoming illegal. We are committed to fighting for a pathway that preserves as much of this industry as possible and secures lasting legality for the future.

Sincerely,
Sequoia Price-Lazarus
